The boys at Big Download are reporting that publisher IDW’s EIC Chris Rydall has let the legions of Dragon Age fans know that the first installment of the comic based on BioWare’s latest RPG franchise has been delayed. Initially planned for a release this March, the Orson Scott Card co-written comic is now expected to debut in April, with the second issue also being pushed back to June.

We’re not exactly sure of the reason for the delay, but we assume it’s to make it more “Dragon-y”… We’ll keep you posted on any new details as they come our way.

Well, after a less-than-smooth road to release, BioWare’s “Return to Ostagar” DLC for Dragon Age: Origins has finally been released (for real) via Xbox Live with the PC and PS3 editions of the content “coming soon”.

Here’s the description:

Your memories of the battle of Ostagar will haunt you for years to come. It laid waste to your order and claimed the lives of many great men and women, including the brash young King Cailan and your mentor, Duncan.

Now, there are rumors that a fellow survivor of the battle has escaped from captivity and is seeking the Grey Wardens’ help. The time has come for the Grey Wardens to make their return to Ostagar and exact their revenge upon the darkspawn.

Hmmm…Sounds pretty neat. So, who’s gonna pick this up???

Return to Ostagar is available for 400 MS Points ($5). You can find out more about the content all things DA:O right here.

Keep this one firmly in the “rumor mill” section of your file cabinet for now, but Joystiq is reporting that BioWare will release a new retail expansion for it’s latest RPG Dragon Age: Origins over in Europe come March 2010. This coming via Eurogamer.cz who states that the expansion, titled Dragon Age: Awakening, will feature a new player character (complete with new origin story) and offer 15 or so hours of gameplay in a storyline that takes place after the events of the original game.

We’ll find out soon enough if this is legit and of course, when we do, you’ll be Awakened with the details.

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you had a good weekend and rockin’ Holiday! We’re kicking off this week’s Member BattleCries with a post by Axe Head Vamp who delivers a huge shout out to those developers that aren’t afraid to try new things. In a sequel-driven industry, I agree that it’s refreshing and rewarding to see new IPs emerge and succeed. Here’s our Member BattleCry of the Day:

Vamp says:

My EBC goes to the developers trying new IPs and actually putting an effort on getting a good quality game out with support and also to the gamers for supporting the new IPs such as Batman AA, Borderlands, Dragon Age. I think that by us supporting the new IPs shows them that we really appreciate new and innovative ideas and that we will support it if it’s a great game and not one of those generic shooters or the shovelware that we see at the stores.

Got something you wanna say on the matter? Just use the comments section below. Got a different topic you’d like to submit as a Member BattleCry? Then head here, Cry Havoc and let your voice be heard!

Just a few weeks after the release of its latest RPG Dragon Age: Origins, BioWare today announced the Return to Ostagar downloadable content which will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC this Holiday season in North America and Europe. The DLC pack allows players to “exact their revenge and embark on a quest for the mighty arms and armor of the once great King Cailan when they revisit Ostagar, the site of the Grey Wardens’ darkest hour, to reclaim the honor and learn the secrets of Ferelden’s fallen king.”

Sounds pretty interesting…

“We are very proud of the phenomenal launch of Dragon Age: Origins and we’re pleased to announce the next installment of downloadable content that will be available to fans of the game,” said Ray Muzyka, Group General Manager, RPG/MMO Group of EA, and Co-Founder, BioWare. “The Return to Ostagar DLC pack is a prime example of BioWare’s commitment to give fans a game that continuously offers new experiences and further enriches a storyline that has already received critical acclaim and positive feedback from the players.”

Again, here is a description:

Return to Ostagar, BioWare’s next thread in the Dragon Age: Origins tapestry, summons players to a new quest in which they will return to the fateful battleground in Ostagar where the Grey Wardens were nearly wiped out. Players will discover King Cailan’s top-secret political agenda and go behind enemy lines to revisit a place that many feared had been lost to history.

Return to Ostagar will be available for $4.99 on the PlayStation Store, for 400 BioWare Points on the PC and 400 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360 in North America. Return to Ostagar will be released this Holiday season worldwide on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and PC. We’ll get you the exact date as soon as it becomes available.
