Be honest with yourself. Its every gamer’s secret fantasy to dismember their so-called ‘friends’ with cordless power tools. Okay maybe not, but that’s not really the point; the point is that we’ve heard some rumors today for the previously announced Dead Space 2 multiplayer. GamerNode reports that in addition to a deathmatch-style mode, where players will control both Necromorphs (\m/) and soldiers, there will be other multiplayer modes announced later.

Additionally, (and most shockingly) pre-ordering through GameStop will net you an exclusive in-game rivet gun but, on the uptick, pre-ordering anywhere will get you Dead Space: Ignition, the motion-comic prequel detailing events leading up to Dead Space 2. So, hit the comments; who’s picking up Dead Space 2? Who can’t wait to eat their friend’s brains as a Necromorph? Who else thinks those Necro-baby-zombie-things are pretty much the scariest thing imaginable?

When I prepare for battle, the first things I know to grab are my trusty screen printed t-shirt and a Marvel comic book.

Just kidding – I break the glass containing my Zombie Apocalypse shottie first – but today Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is giving away exclusive tools of war for anyone who pre-orders at GameStop.

Today only, GameStop pre-orders will receive an Enslaved t-shirt and comic book, which the ad assures us (two times, in case we miss the first brightly-lit sign) are GameStop EXCLUSIVES. The retailer is also hosting the Enslaved Home Entertainment Sweepstakes, wherein the grand prize is a Sony 55″ TV, surround sound speaker system, a choice of a PS3 or Xbox 360, an Enslaved statue and a copy of the game. Four first prize-winners will receive the statue and game.

Pre-orders from GameStop will also grant you a code for the playable “Ninja Monkey” skin, which has unlimited ammo.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is due to drop October 5 for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Is this enough incentive for anyone to pre-order Enslaved today? Let us know what you think about the game trailers and this exclusive offer in the comments!

Apparently Ezio is extremely particular about who he lets into his vigilante gang – the Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood multiplayer beta is not only a PS3 exclusive, but it is also now a GameStop pre-order exclusive.

Talk about picky.

GameStop will hand out a limited number of tokens for the beta on a first-come, first-serve pre-order basis starting August 9. If you’re an over-achiever and have already pre-ordered Brotherhood at GameStop, bring your receipt to your local retailer to receive a token next Monday.

The pre-launch multiplayer beta will begin September 13 on PSN, and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is scheduled for full release on Xbox 360 and PS3 November 16. We’ll of course keep you posted if the beta ends up becoming available by other means.

What do you think are the benefits of such an exclusive beta system? PS3 owners who are also GameStop customers, how excited are you to try out the Brotherhood multiplayer? Write out your thoughts in the comments!

Without any official confirmation from Microsoft, the Kinect system for Xbox 360 has been priced at $149.99 for pre-orders at many major retailers online.

GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy and Wal-Mart all have the Kinect for pre-order at $149.99, which was the rumored price before Microsoft so helpfully didn’t clear up the issue at its E3 press conference.

GameStop warns potential pre-orderers that the price is an estimate only and is subject to change, but with four of the largest retailers promoting the same price, it might be safe to start saving up now.

For the 40 million Xbox 360 models in our parents’ basements around the world, Kinect will also require an additional power source to run, so make sure to budget that in your piggy bank too, as none of the retailers seem to be including it in their pre-order packages. The new Xbox 360 250 GB consoles have a direct plug-in for the Kinect and require no additional power source.

Is $150 too pricey for the Kinect, or is the technology innovative enough to warrant it? Will you be getting one? Let’s hear it below!

It's a store!

While the Gamestop Xbox 360 S promotion was leaked onto the internet earlier today, it has now officially been posted on the Gamestop website. The offer shows how much money you will get with trading in either an Xbox 360 system or a wide assortment of accessories. Check below for the official list, and let us know if you will take advantage of it come tomorrow when it starts.

  • XB360 System w/wireless OR wired controller – $100
  • XB360 Hard Drive 20 GB – $30
  • XB360 Hard Drive 60 GB – $35
  • XB360 Hard Drive 120 GB – $40
  • XB360 Hard Drive 250 GB – $50
  • XB360 Memory Card 64 MB – $10
  • XB360 Memory Card 256 MB – $14
  • XB360 Memory Card 512 MB – $18
  • XB360 Network Adapter Wireless (Microsoft) – $40
  • XB360 Network N Adapter (Disc required) – $50
  • XB360 Controller – Wired (Microsoft) – $20
  • XB360 Controller – Wireless (Microsoft) – $25

Honestly, this could save a nice penny even if you only trade a system with the wireless adapter. I will line up (hopefully without the line) at my local Gamestop tomorrow morning before work, how about you?

GameStop_PowerUp
Hang on to your hats (and your wallets), details on GameStop’s new customer loyalty program known as PowerUp Rewards have emerged. The new points-based system will replace the Edge Card program currently in place and apparently is already being tested in Ohio, Tennessee, and Missouri as we speak.

Basically, a free and paid version of the program will be made available, and while both will grant you access to program points through the trading in and purchasing of games, the yearly $14.99 fee scores you additional goodies such as bonus points for sign-up/renewal, discounts on used games, a year long subscription to Game Informer and more.

Apparently, each buck you spend on NEW games and consoles will score you 10 PowerUp points while each dollar spent on USED merchandise earns you 20 PowerUp points. OH! I get it! It’s like the Online Pass thing, but in reverse…

LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!

We’re still waiting on official details regarding the points system and some insight into what type of range we’re talking about here. Kotaku reports that items such as an Xbox 360 controller can cost you as much as 40,000 points under the system, which seems pretty steep, but again, we’re not positive on the point structure just yet so we’ll have to keep our purse strings crossed until we learn more.

So, any thoughts on the news? Do you generally enjoy/value these types of programs? Are you personally planning to PowerUp? Let us know in the comments section below!

Ubisoft announced today that if you pre-order their upcoming title Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood at GameStop, you will earn yourself an extra multiplayer character.

While the details are sparse, we do know that the character will be called the Harlequin. No word if the pre-order bonus comes with special abilities or not, but one thing is certain – the Harlequin is one creepy looking character.

So what do you think? Are you guys interested in the Assassin’s Creed multiplayer?
