Those amongst you counting down the days until Torchlight 2‘s release will now have something else to make the wait that much longer. Runic Games confirmed to Joystiq that Torchlight 2 will offer full, free mod support, as well as multiplayer mod support. Fear not though, because it was also noted that players will be able to search for multiplayer games with or without mods, and XP gained in all games (mods or not) will stay with your character.
Lastly, Runic mentioned that all item drops are client specific, so only you can see that uber powerful weapon flashing on your screen. Surely this will make loot hunting easier, no?
So, full, free mod support and XP across all game types – I’d say that’s more than enough to be excited for Torchlight 2, but of course we wanna hear from YOU. Does Torchlight 2 already have a spot in your gaming library?

As of yesterday, I have completed the first torchlight game. After many, many years of gaming this was my first point and click game of this nature I have ever played. After playing it I have to say..I’m a fan. I am truly excited about the announcement of the sequel and all the goodies it seems to be bringing to the table.
I’m really looking forward to part two of this series. Also, now that I know what I have been missing I am looking forward to Diablo3 (when it finally decides to makes it’s appearance anyway.) Just glad to know I’ll have this in hand to tide me over.
Well at least Blizzard announced Diablo 3. Valve can’t seem to even do that with HL2EP3 or CS2.
That is why I am not buying anything from Valve untill they make those 2 games a reality.
I wonder when L4D X will come out…
I’ll buy it if Diablo 3 hasn’t come out yet
@kadrian “CS2″ will never… EVER be released.. there is simply no point to do it, people still play CS 1.6 even though most have migrated to Source… so now imagine if they made the same game, AGAIN.. they would just split players into 3 groups again. Also there is no profit “gameplay” wise, both 1.6 and Source are balanced to the limit and they really dont need a fix or a new release.
@Kadrian, you are willing to skip Portal 2 because Valve haven’t announced HL2E3, which is a guaranteed certainty anyway without an announcement.
I can understand skipping a game because you have no interest in it but skipping a game because the developer hasn’t announced another title seems rather silly.

I really enjoy (Diablo I&II developer’s; Runic’s) Torchlight and am really looking forward to Torchlight 2′s co-op.
Although Blizzard have shown themselves plenty capable (through Starcraft 2) and Diablo III will cetainly have excellent production values and polish, I’m still hesitant since it’s not done by the original Diablo guys, and I’m going to wait until I see more and the community appreciates it as they did with SC2. (I’m rather annoyed that there will be no druid since that was my main D2 class – no more fury lycan… sigh).
I would love to see CS2 with nicer graphics and new gameplay modes allso am crossing my fingers for some kind of online co-op mode.
@crazyjackal, yes I am willing to skip portal 2 just because of that. It is my personal action against them. I played Portal and I enjoyed it but not as much as I enjoy Half Life, that game is probably my all time favorite and I hate how they left it, UNFINISHED.
Well Torchlight 2 looks really nice and the best thing is that there is multiplayer. =)
They are also working on Torchlight the MMO.
