In this installment, the Bad Company crew again find themselves in the heart of the action, where they must use every weapon and vehicle at their disposal to survive. In Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the ‘B’ company fight their way through snowy mountaintops, dense jungles and dusty villages. With a heavy arsenal of deadly weapons and a slew of vehicles to aid them, the crew set off on their mission and they are ready to blow up, shoot down, blast through, wipe out and utterly destroy anything that gets in their way. Total destruction is the name of the game, delivered as only the DICE next generation Frostbite engine can. [Electronic Arts]

THE GOOD: If you have a HDTV and surround sound with ample bass, you will be taken into a very engaging and breathtaking sensory experience. I think I had some neighbors scared there was an invasion on release day. Presentation aside, the game play is very addicting. The squad support and general point system is very well implemented. Even if you are on a team full of long wolves you can easily top the scoreboard and turn the tide of the battle with patience and diligence to your class.
THE BAD: There were a number of clipping issues with dead bodies hanging onto walls if not passing through solid stone and twitching uncontrollably (perhaps just on the PS3). There are the obvious connection and unavailable store issues, but I am sure they will be fixed in due time. (Fixed now.)
THE UGLY: There is very little to call ugly, but if there is anything ugly about this game it would be the often awkward melee hit detection. There is nothing more frustrating than being within arm’s reach of a foe and miss completely with the knife as they turn and gun you down; after the third swing.
All that put together makes for a game that is worth the full price of a new copy and for any fans of FPS and shooter, it’s a must buy. If any PS3 players want to share a spot on a squad , look for me. I promise you won’t be in “bad company.” That one’s for DK.
Bought the limited edition on steam today, download was really fast. Too bad I cant really write a review since I cant connect – at All – to the EA servers.. and the single player just feels like a MW / MW2 copy. I’m a huge fan of Battlefield however and will keep trying.
THE GOOD: Medic class!! Squad Play!! Destructibility!! Graphics!! BEST SOUND in any game EVER!! Incredible Multiplayer!! Ranking System!!
THE BAD: Rough launch. Server browser and connection not working well first couple of days (seems to be fixed).
THE UGLY: None
This is a great game, no two bones about it!! Buy this game!!
Hit me up on PC if ya wanna play – Huckleberry880
On PC.
The multiplayer game mode ‘rush’ is like Unreal Tournament 2004 meets cod mw2. GREAT FUN.I have been able to log onto EA, but have had trouble making servers favorites, can’t see the ping til I get in-game etc. But for actual gameplay, awesome.
Now for those who haven’t bought it, here’s the deal-
The first gun in each class SUCKS. Persevere and you’ll be fine.
Do some research. NOTHING IS SELF EXPLANATORY. You have to unlock repair kits as an engineer, which i assumed you would start with. On top of that you can’t level up as an engineer by repairing…which is stupid.
So ask around for god’s sake or you’ll be constantly asking “whats the deal with….?” I dunno, this was my first Battlefield game, and i did buy it off steam so no manual. Maybe everyone else is thinking ‘der’, but i had 3 housemates buy it, both of which HAS played BF games before who also confused at first.
Regardless of the lack of info you get into it real quick!
Single player is also great!

game is great, but made very very irritating by the shitty EA connection/browsers. When you can get in a game with a few friends its amazing, but half the time your either having trouble with:
1)Connecting to EA
2)Getting your Friends List to load
3)Getting your soldier to load
4)Staying on a server without Punkbuster kicking you after a minute
And another favorite gripe about this game is that for some strange reason, some people have RIDICULOUS loading times. Some people can load a game in a few seconds, for others its almost a minute of watching the loading screen before being able to jump in the game. It makes no sense, and its not computer hardware related, its just some sort of bug in the game.
Its fun if you can put up with all the shit EA gives you. Great game, fuck EA in the ass with a shotgun.
edit: and EA servers are down again! JOY!

edit: this is for PC version
OhLordDespair,
You DO get points for repairing as an engineer and you can level up with it. However, I gotta say…they need more things in the game to repair. With the loss of any physical artillery and Satellite like in BF2, the only thing we can repair are vehicles and most of the time, dumb asses are driving them.
In addition, I am sorry, but Engineers should be the only damn class that can drive vehicles because Engineers get owned one on one by every other class. In addition, it will keep IDIOTS playing snipers from jumping in an driving off ALONE so they can get to their favorite camp ground before thereby ganking the entire team.
This games an absolute blast, If you can manage to play it.
As everyone else has already said, The EAs servers are complete crap. The multi player is borderline unplayable right now, at least on the PC version.
So perhaps its better to say, eventually this game will be a blast to play. Right now, might as well wait until the servers are patched up.
If you’re considering purchasing Battlefield: Bad Company 2….DON’T DO IT!!!! I’ve spent as much time trying to get into a game as I have actually playing. To add to that; when I do get into a game, I often get booted and lose all of my kills/achievements/ etc. I’ve been a loyal customer to the Battlefield brand and even pre-ordered BC2. What a huge waste of $60. Modern Warefare has never given me this kind of issue. I just can’t believe that they weren’t prepared for this. I can understand if they have server problems here and there………but come on….this is beyone ridiculous. Be warned!!! and warn everyone you know.( I’m posting this exact same warning everywhere I can.) Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is the ultimate excersise in futility!!!!!
AHHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHAH AHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!
NO PROBLEMS WITH MW2 BUT MANY WITH BFBC2!??!?!?!?!
You either aren’t playing it on PC or very, very drunk. Connecting to EA has been a problem for me twice and i cant save servers to favorites, but compared to MW2 its GODLIKE. forming a party is easy, heaps of servers to choose from……why am i bothering. If u seriously like mw2 better….
god help you.
PS. AHHAHAHAHHA NO PROBLEMS WITH MW2 AHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAAAAA BEST JOKE EVER!!!!!
and Beatdown, i got the engi tool, spent an ENTIRE rush round not killing ANYONE, just repairing one tank, and didn’t level up AT ALL. I checked after the round was over. Maybe glitched, but still….
None?!
Here’s a list:
Map design that doesn’t offer any a variety in gameplay unlike BF:BC.
Invisible walls. They brake the immersion if you stumble upon them.
Most maps doesn’t allow long range sniping.
The kit layout is exactly the same with BF:BC only now you get to choose which gadgets you don’t want by choosing the three that you do.
Want more? I’m sure I can tell you more. See the forum.
I mostly play rush, and every map is completely different. As for sniping….again, most maps are good for sniping. Like seriously, all I do is divide my time between sniping and assault. And conquest is brilliant for sniping. Maybe your talking about squad death match which i haven’t played yet.
Haven’t found any invisible walls yet. And considering this game lets you blow your way into every building and go outside the maps for a limited amount of time, it’s still better than nearly every other game.
Not sure about the kits cause i never played bfbc 1
The Good: Probably one of the best multiplayer experiences you’ll find on the consoles and pretty high up there on PC as well. Stunning visuals in both single and multiplayer with beautiful draw distance in open vistas and detail. The sound is bar none some of the best in any game to date guaranteed to give you shell shock so let’s hope you have surround sound. The weapons and vehicles sound real and distinct in various situations. There’s a noticeable difference in audio when you fire your rifle inside a building with the sound reverberating off the walls, and then stepping outside and hearing your shots carry echo in the distance. And let’s not forget the physics…incredible. Not only are they cool, but they add a whole new level of gameplay strategy as well as many awesome highlight moments. The best part of this game is the squad gameplay, which not only encourages teamwork for success, but practically requires it as well as rewards it. And therefore it builds incredible comradery between you and your squad. Where so many games nowadays are rewarding people for playing as lone wolves and camping to boost their stats BF:BC2 manages to do the opposite and encourages gamers to play the way a team game should be done. At least, after people have earned the majority of their weapons and gadgets, which isn’t long. There’s also A LOT of life in each multiplayer map. They’re huge and you’ll never play one the same way twice. Gameplay is also very tightly tweaked. Sniping a pilot from a chopper is one of the most rewarding things you’ll do in a shooter. I’ve also noticed a lot fewer trash talkers, and annoying players in the BF community…even on Xbox Live, which is a huge plus.
The Bad: The campaign is entertaining for a play through, but still inferior to the multiplayer. Not a lot of depth to the story or characters, but some cool moments to be experienced. Now and then you’ll stop to gawk at the incredible scenery in between blowing the crap out of every structure still standing. Multiplayer-wise there are a couple maps like Atamaca Desert, which can have some balance issues (half decent chopper pilots can destroy in that level). If you’re playing in normal mp rather than hardcore there are times when it seems enemies can take ridiculous amounts of bullets. Lastly, with so much emphasis on teamwork, this game is DYING for at least 2 player split screen in all modes so you can have the option to play along side a friend as a squad.
The Ugly: Being that it’s a game so heavily grounded in team play, getting stuck with a team that refuses to cooperate or simply lacks skill almost guarantees defeat. However, when both teams are playing optimally it’s some of the best teamwork multiplayer you’ll ever experience (especially with headsets), and the structure also weeds out many lone wolf players. It is still unclear to me how the ranking system works as well, as I can never figure out what influences the increase and decrease in skill level between games. And there are still some kinks to be worked out of the physics, such as a single sniper round can topple a full grown tree allowing you to demolish an entire wooded area with one sniper rifle. Paul Bunyan would be proud.
BC2 is the best console FPS to date…beating out even COD4…The only gripe I have other than the occasional game drop is that it NEEDS MORE MAPS!!!!! I hope EA doesn’t give up on this when Medal Of Honor comes out…
