To the surprise of none, former Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella have today announced the formation of a new studio, Respawn Entertainment, and a subsequent worldwide, exclusive publishing deal with none other than chief Activision rival Electronic Arts.
BOOM!
“Respawn Entertainment marks a fresh start for Jason and me,” said Vince Zampella, General Manager of Respawn Entertainment. “For the past decade we led a great development team and poured our hearts into creating an epic game franchise. We’re very proud of what we built – and proud that so many millions of fans enjoyed those games. Today we hope to do it all over again — open a new studio, hire a great team, and create brand new games with a new partner, EA.”
Frank Gibeau, President of the EA Games Label commented, “This is the start of a great publishing partnership – one that I expect will develop blockbuster game franchises. Jason and Vince are two of the top creative leaders in the entertainment industry. At EA, we’re honored to be their partners and to give them the support they need to hire a team and return to making incredible games.”
According to the press release, the company will focus on “creating state-of-the-art gaming experiences for global audiences” while it is currently assembling a world-class team of designers, artists and engineers. They apparently still need folks though, and even opened their inbox to resumes via jobs@respawn.com.
“We’re excited,” added Jason West, President of Respawn Entertainment. “Now that the team is in control of the games and brands, we can ensure that the fans are treated as well as they deserve.”
So, there ya go…It should be interesting to see how this all develops as we wait for the next lawsuit to respawn…

Oh DK, you and your puns…… hysterical!!!!!
At least We know who’s gonna pay this guys legal bill on the Activision lawsuit.
Respawn FTW!!!!!
or waiting till the new MW-clone respawns
I suggest that former Pandemic Studios employees send in their resumes ASAP.
Havent they spawned enough times allready? (A)
So happy to see this. Fuck Activision. My only worry is the fate of Modern Warfare 3.
If Zempella and West are smart, they get the rights for MW back in their hands, and not use it anymore.
Allthough im not sure if that legally will be accepted by any judge, the name itself is stained too much now. It would ruïn next itterations of the game because of the sludge it has been pulled through.
Good for them, I hope they start putting out great games again soon.
It does make me wonder though if Zampella and West were already talking to EA before they got fired or if Activision firing them made Activision’s claims a self-fulfilling prophecy.
where is that stupid retard jason rubin now.
i bet he wont be opening his dumb whore mouth again cause these 2 developers completely proved him wrong
IN THE GROUND!!!
Bad choice with the name, considering how bad the spawning in the CoD games is.
Jason and EYE.
That is all.
Well we’ll see if in their next game the other team doesn’t RESPAWN behind us.
im pretty sure i know exactly what your talking about and yes hes a tool
Most interesting question I can come up with at this juncture: Will EA allow them to work on MoH… I think that would be their Duty, their true Call, it’s a matter of Honor, isn’t it?
Seeing that game is taking a ‘Modern’ approach to ‘Warfare’, it’s likely, to say the least.
I am happy for Vince and Jason. You can read my opinion at: http://bit.ly/coWoSN
